 Our learning in Snowy Owls

  • During Science, we listened to the story of 'Leaf Man'. We talked about the fact that trees have different shaped and sized leaves and made our own leaf people from leaves they collected.
  • We have been working really hard on forming all our numbers correctly.
  • We enjoyed learning about why we commemorate Remembrance Day. We listened to stories, attended an assembly, made our own poppies and watched a short clip about why poppies are significant.
  • The Phase 1 classes celebrated Bonfire Night and Diwali with a special day of activities. Each class learnt about the festival of Diwali and the history of Bonfire Night and why we celebrate it. What a super day of celebrations! In Snowy Owls Mrs Payton taught us a Diwali dance.
  • We had a visit from a dental nurse! She talked to the children about what a dentist does & what we need to do to keep our teeth healthy. There were lots of questions about teeth asked and answered.
  • After our wonderful visit from nurse Claire, we took part in some role play. We pretended our teddy had hurt themselves and bandaged them up!
  • During Welly Wednesday we learnt about the artist Andy Goldsworthy and then made our own sculptures out of natural materials.
  • The Year 1 children have been identifying different materials in Science, looking at their properties and how different materials are made. We then made our own mood boards to describe some everyday materials.
  • In Welly Wednesday we recapped the names of some British birds before making them bird feeders with apples and sunflower seeds.
  • We have done some art work using natural materials that we collected on our welly walk.
