Bikeability
2 groups of our Year 6 children took part in bikeability over the last couple of weeks. They practiced their new skills on the playground (cycling one handed, signalling and manoeuvring to the correct road position) before taking to the roads in the local area. They showed great listening skills and resilience and were a credit to the school... well done!
Bouncy castle reward
Every week the children are recognised when using their Growth Mindset. Every time an adult recognises this, they get a raffle ticket. During every celebration assembly, a child from Phases 1,2 and 3 get picked at random and win the Growth Mindset reward. Last Friday, the winners from Term 1 and the first 2 weeks of this term got to spend the afternoon on a bouncy castle.

Wear yellow for mental health
Last Friday was World Mental Health Day. The children all had the opportunity to wear yellow to support mental health. The children had a class assembly on Mental Health and chance to discuss what mental health means to them. We were also lucky enough to win a buddy bench for our school for supporting such a worthy cause... thankyou!

Rail safety assembly
The children in Years 3, 4 and 6 took part on a rail safety in assembly to learn all about how to stay safe at railways stations, near railways lines and at level crossings. The children listened well and joined with the activities and are hopefully much more confident with how to keep themselves safe.

Raising money for the Year 6 garden
A group of children from Years 5 and 6 planned, promoted and held a cake sale to raise money towards renovating the Year 6 garden. Thank you to everyone who helped with this by manning the stall or making cakes. They raised £112.85! Well done!

This terms value - Curiosity
This term our whole school value is Curiosity! Each class had an assembly to learn about what curiosity means and to think about what being curious looks like. We also thought about how being curious helps us to learn. Afterwards, each class took part in an activity linked to being curious.

Children in Need
We celebrated Children in Need! The children brought copper coins to school and filled up a giant outline of Pudsey Bear in the school hall, and Mrs Turley became our dance announcer for the day and we had great fun dancing every time she came by! We raised lots of money for a great cause.

People who help us
The Barn and Snowy Owls children had a visit from Nurse Claire. She told them all about her job and how she helps people. Then they explored lots of activities about how they keep themselves healthy. They pretended their teddies had hurt themselves and bandaged them up!

First aid week
We held a First Aid week at Walwayne! Each class has taken part in an age appropriate first aid session, with our youngest children learning about first aid procedures in school and what to do if they hurt themselves up to our oldest children learning about how to put people in the recovery position. It has been lovely to see the children engaged and learning lots of new skills.

Youth Parliament
Amelie and Yusef went to their first meeting of this year's Trowbridge Youth Parliament. During the meeting the children from schools all around Trowbridge voted in a chair and vice chair. The aims of the Trowbridge Youth Parliament are to give the young people a voice and create change in the town. They also visited the site on which the new sensory garden will be built. The children of Trowbridge Youth Parliament will be researching, fundraising, designing and organising the building of the new sensory garden in the town park. This is an incredible opportunity for the children to be a part of. Amelie and Yusef represented Walwayne confidently and with pride! Keep your eyes peeled for updates!
