 Our learning in Kingfishers

  • We have been developing our skills of how to write music. We were creating our own music in groups and making sure we only had 4 beats in a bar.
  • We are continuing our learning about Buddhism and have explored how the religion views events in the universe.
  • We have been learning to find the perimeter of rectilinear shapes in Maths.
  • We have started our DT topic of Micro bits! We have been looking at programs to help regulate habitats.
  • We have been building our Maths fluency through regular arithmetic practice! Our scores are getting better and better!
  • We wanted to share how much we have been enjoying the reading project. The Year 5’s have been delving in to the secret garden whilst the Year 6’s are on an adventure with the Hobbit!
  • We have been exploring drug education in PSHE and have been looking at what is an illegal and legal drug.
  • In PE, we have been working on developing our jumping skills, and using these as part of a sequences of movements.
  • We started our Art topic by creating visual notes on the artist Kevork Mourad.
  • We started our history topic on the Shang Dynasty! We learned all about when and where it took place and some facts about that time.
  • We have been practising our netball skills. We have been focusing particularly hard on the accuracy of our passing and working as a team!
  • We wrote a practice non chronological report on the Day of the Dead before writing our final version next week.
  • We have been working hard on our Christmas stockings. We used blanket stitch, running stitch, and cross stitch to make our designs come to life.
  • We have been exploring non chronological reports by looking at the differences and similarities between a range of texts. We cannot wait to write our own towards the end of term!
  • We started our Geography topic by using the atlases to find out where different countries and their capital cities are.
  • We started our RE topic by learning about Hinduism and their Gods and festivals.
  • We have been reading 'Holes' this term and have been following the unlucky Stanley as he journeys from Camp Green Lake to FREEDOM.
  • In Science, we have been learning about and comparing different life cycles. We looked at the life cycles of birds and dissected an egg. We examined the important parts of the egg that enable the chick to hatch successfully. It was a bit gross, but it was very interesting and fun by the end!
  • We completed our hot write of a comedy story, using all the skills they have been practicing over the last few weeks.
  • We have been dancing up a storm with Miss Dally, using moves to affect the dynamics of the piece of music we are listening to.
  • We began our dive into Trowbridge’s history across the ages in readiness for our trip to Trowbridge Museum.
