Our learning in Foxes
- In Science, we set up an experiment to determine how conditions like light and water affect the growth of plants. We are looking forward to finding out the results!
-
- In PSHE, we have been discussing how we feel when we are safe and unsafe. They then discussed what were dangers, risks or hazards.
-
- We created the monsters for our quest stories in English .... scary!
-
- In Science, we have been exploring volume in our learning about sound. We used an app to record the decibels of some of the sounds we heard.
-
- We have been creating a setting for our quest stories. Expect the unexpected!
-
- In Science, we have been investigating pitch and building on our learning about sound and how it is made and travels.
-
- In English, we have been learning the Jabberwocky poem by Lewis Carroll. Beware the Jabberwock! We thought about the meanings of the unusual words, and have been thinking about how to perform the poem to an audience.
-
- We applied our blogging skills from our ICT unit on Safer Internet usage by producing a blog post about our learning in History - all about the Bronze Age.
-
- We are working hard on balances and jumps in gymnastics, using teamwork to perfect our balances.
-
- We have been observing and recording our results from an experiment about how different drinks impact upon the health of our teeth.
-
- In ICT Internet Safety, we are looking at whether you can always trust what you read on the internet and building an understanding of questioning and checking what we read.
-
- We have been learning about the digestive system, and the different parts and their functions.
-
- We played 'guess who' to launch our diary writing unit in English. We had to listen to the diary entry and guess who wrote it using evidence from the text! Some were quite tricky!
-
- We have been using our historical detective skills to investigate different Stone Age artefacts.
-
- We built and tested our pneumatic toys in Design and Technology to see if they fitted our design criteria - they were a great success!
-
- We finished writing our non-chronological reports all about foxes and then had a lovely time sharing them with some of the Owls children.
-
- We have been researching our class animal in order to write a non-chronological report about foxes.
-
- We have continued to build our skills in PE, learning fielding and striking skills for invasion games.
-
- We had a great first Samba session back, practicing our rhythms and instrument skills!
-
- We have been making shadow puppets in Science to explore the formation of shadows and how distance affects the size of a shadow.
-
- In Science, we were logging data using Purple Mash to record information about the movement of shadows.
-
- We have been developing our skills using a dictionary in Guided Reading, to learn vocabulary for a text we read about Rosa Parks.
-
- We have been continuing to explore the use of charcoal as a drawing tool, using cave paintings as inspiration in our art.
-
- In English, we have been putting all the story making games we played last week to good use as we wrote a finding story. What did their character find? What will happen next?
-
- Foxes are starting the year with a bang in their Samba class. The year 4's are building on their progress from last year by creating rhythms and playing in unison. Year 3's will be learning how to play the different percussion instruments.
